Coach Dan's After-School Program

As in life, baseball involves more than a single skill. We teach children more than how to hit and field better. They’ll discover the meaning of a positive attitude, teamwork, hustle, good sportsmanship and most importantly, self worth. Once they discover our diamond just watch them shine.

Groups meet for one hour a week after school in Central Park on the same day at the same time.  Fall Season Sept through October Spring Season April through May.

Coach Dan is a cherished part of my sons’ lives. He is an extraordinary coach, but, more importantly, he is an exemplary role model and mentor. He imparts lessons about teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, commitment, and friendship that will serve my boys well throughout their lives. Coach Dan has taught my sons that the greatest rewards come from hard work, dedication, integrity, and loyalty to your teammates. Thanks to Dan, my sons know that winning is not nearly as important as how you play the game!

Dan Venezia is an excellent example of how we can use sports to teach the whole child. I have seen Coach Dan on the field patiently teaching children how to play baseball, but he does so much more; his book demonstrates this. He reminds all of us that the baseball diamond is a limitless field of opportunity to teach children about what kind of a player they want to be, not just in baseball, but in the much broader game of life.

Private Instruction

We know how to motivate children and make the experience of playing baseball both rewarding and fun. We focus on the effort and reward the player’s approach. Player’s are evaluated and a program is designed to fit their needs. Private lessons are typically 45 minutes long. Virtual sessions also available.

My time with Coach Dan simply cannot be put into words, for it has been invaluable both on and off the field. While I have learned a lot about sports and improved my skills to the point where I was the captain of my varsity high school baseball team for 2 years, the lessons I have learned off the field overpower everything else. From these lessons I have adopted a way of life; hard work, dedication, determination, resiliency, and respect are just a fraction of the examples that have shaped who I am. I would not be the young man I am today without Coach Dan and I would not trade my time with him for anything. Anything!

I covered many of the greatest super-stars and icons in the world of sports and got to know them “up close and personal” as well. As talented as they are, many of them would have benefited greatly from the lessons that Coach Dan teaches the boys each week. He provides a valuable road map for life beyond the baseball diamond. Simply put – Coach Dan does a wonderful job and his book is an extension of his supportive and wonderful philosophy. I highly recommend it for all parents and future super stars.

Sportsmanship--Integrity--Character

We need to define sportsmanship in full detail. Too many of our children have a vague idea of what the concept means. There are so many teaching moments that take place on the athletic field, gymnasium or the playground. Coaches, teacher’s and parent’s need to take an active role and make sure our children grasp the concept fully. In addition to pointing out what they shouldn’t do, we need to show them how to behave and explain why. They are so eager to learn. I take this responsibility of mentoring, coaching, and teaching seriously.  Thank you for entrusting me with your slugger’s..

Unfortunately, many of our children are being hurt by abusive coaches. I wrote an article titled, We all can do better on this important topic.  This is a must read for all parents.  Click button to read.
